![]() ![]() It really stinks when there's _two_ simultaneous faults. In theory, you can repeat this process until the fault it found. Put the bulb back, mark where that was with tape, then pull the middle bulb from the other direction in that section that didn't have continuity. If you get continuity in one direction, then the rest of the bulbs that direction are good (look closely at how the wires exit the socket). If you get nothing, try it from the other side of that socket to both blades. So if you pull the middle bulb in the bad section, test for continuity from one side of the socket to both blades on the plug. One direction in the ring will be fed from one blade of the plug, the other direction from the other blade. Since the male plug isn't polarized (one blade wider than the other) this is interchangeable. Think of the fifty bulb section as being in a loop, with one end fed with neutral, and the other end hot. The bulbs themselves could all be good, but if just one doesn't make contact completely with the socket, that section will fail. I'm the furthest thing away from being an electrician, so I wouldn't be shocked if my method here is all wrong. Should both contacts show beep when touched?) Re-inserted this bulb and Unplugged the next bulb that was out -> Audible beep tone on one contact here as well and so on and so on for every single bulb that was out. Using second probe/lead touched the contact -> Audible beep tone (but only on one contact. Unplugged the first bulb that was out on the male end. Inserted one lead/probe into the female end of the strand of lights. Set multimeter to Ohms (audible beep tone) Maybe my method for testing continuity was wrong? Here is how I did it: We encourage you to help out anybody else with their questions while waiting for yours to be answered. Thanks for the response! I have done this (or I at least think I have), and I have even gone as far to take every single bulb out one-by-one starting at the male end and tested for continuity between each bulb up to the last bulb that is out and every single one of them have continuity.
